The most common species of Flea is the Cat Flea, known for readily biting humans. The Bird Flea are next in importance, followed by the rare Dog Flea, although other species may become temporarily attached to dogs. Finally, there are Human Fleas which are extremely rare.
The greatest concern about having fleas in your home or business comes from their bites. Which while not painful, they can result in an itch or rash. Fleas can also act as an intermediate host of canine tapeworm which can infect humans.
While they don’t fly, fleas can jump long distances and move easily between humans and pets. To be successful, any treatment requires treatment of both your property and your pets, if you have them.
